Reporting to our VP of National Accounts, Resident seeks a Director of Retail Sales to develop and direct the sales, advertising, training, and customer relations activities with large Mattress and Furniture retailers along with managing Regional Account Managers in a defined region.
**This is a Remote, Work From Home Position. Regular, high volume travel may be required to build customer relationships in a retail-focused environment. Customer interaction is expected to mirror regular and customary "retail" hours of operation.**

Responsibilities

  • Attain sales, profit and performance objectives for the defined sales region
  • Analyze retailer and industry conditions utilizing strong business acumen skills and identify opportunities that drive business results
  • Negotiate customer agreements designed to maximize Nectar’s productivity and profitability
  • Train, develop, mentor and manage Regional Account Managers to improve sales capabilities and to accelerate sales cycles while building new business through opening meaningful new accounts
  • Reinforce OKR’s and Resident Values of Excellence, Customer Love, Big Thinking, Inclusivity, and Forward Momentum while leading the team
  • Ensure all pricing, rebates, incentives, and co-op funds are distributed and used according to corporate policy
  • Coordinate and ensure implementation of all marketing activities and programs within the region or area
  • Establish market share and volume goals with each account and develop specific action plans to reach those goals
  • Communicate and coordinate activities regularly with the appropriate internal business partners as well as the sales management team to resolve or avoid problems relating to the dealer support team, collections team and other matters affecting business in the region
  • Participate in sales planning and development of business plans, market strategies, goals, sales forecasts, collateral and selling expenses, and budgets
  • Analyze each account and formulate specific plan of action to achieve/exceed sales plan/budget
  • Advise field sales and corporate personnel regarding market trends, competitive information, sales goals, current performance measurements, etc.
  • Recommend, suggest, and structure programs that will create increased business opportunities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years people management experience in a sales and or consumer product environment  
  • Minimum 5 years of consumer product, mattress experience preferred
  • Experience in a fast paced direct to consumer environment preferred
  • Strong business acumen to include P&L Management
  • A player coach who can clearly articulate a vision and ensure its implementation
  • A passionate ambassador for the brand with the ability to convey the corporate message (vision and strategy) convincingly to the customer
  • Unwavering personal integrity and ability to build relationships based on trust and respect
  • Ability to confront reality in assessing business performance and opportunities
  • Ability to listen and desire to learn
  • Excellent problem solving skills
