Do you want to shape the future of virtualized (SDN) networking in the world’s biggest public cloud?

The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) VPC Packet Pipeline team owns the packet pipeline that runs right beneath all our customer's EC2 VPC instances, adding features like firewalling (security groups), billing and monitoring as we touch every single packet on every single host across our massive worldwide fleet. Our vision is to combine the performance of bare metal networking while maintaining all the benefits of the cloud, including delivering features not possible on bare metal i.e. true Software Defined Networking (SDN).

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team owning a significant set of services and analytics systems required to implement and deploy AWS VPC software at scale. You will provide leadership and management for a development team while growing the roadmap for a portfolio of core software components required to support the EC2 Networking organization. This is a hands-on position that requires broad engineering competency and knowledge of big-data architecture, virtualization, analytic systems, application of machine learning, DevOps roles, continuous integration, infrastructure tools, and distributed systems. You will be challenged with planning, organizing, refactoring, and conducting software development projects in a dynamic environment.

Specifically the Engineering Manager will:

· Lead a team of software developers that are innovating solutions of the challenge of allowing the public cloud to reach the networking performance of bare metal, and not only match its features, but exceeding on them
· Partner with product management, hardware/silicon engineering and network engineering to develop solutions for today and future customer's needs
· Continuously monitor customer feedback and market conditions, identify opportunities to innovate and simplify our networking offerings, and high growth opportunities for networking services.
· Establish and achieve a high bar for operational performance as your teams deploy new data plane features to a massive worldwide fleet following a true end to end "DevOps" model (i.e. you will own dev, test and ops).
