We are hiring a Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Manager to be responsible for our enterprise BC/DR Program. You will be responsible for maturing the BC/DR programs across the organization and coordinating our preparedness and response to disruptive incidents and ensure our ability to maintain/recover critical business operations and capabilities. This role will report to our Head of Information Security and work closely with our HIPAA Security and HIPAA Privacy Officers, our Compliance team, Information Assurance team, and individuals from each business unit and physical location. As our BC/DR Manager you will gain a deep understanding of the business processes critical to our operations, the internal and third-party software and vendors that support these processes, as well as the standards we are held to (such as HITRUST, HIPAA, PCI, etc.) to provide enterprise resiliency coordination and consulting between Technology and the Business with heavy emphasis on Disaster Recovery Readiness, Business Continuity Readiness, and Major Incident Management efforts.  The location of this role is negotiable, with a location preference of near one of our major sites (San Francisco Bay Area, Hamilton/Cincinnati, OH; Redmond, WA; Austin, TX; or Brooklyn, NY). When safe to do so and as business obligations require, some travel would be expected for real-world incidents, site visits and inspections, practice exercises, meetings, conferences, facility audits, and the like.   (We are not able to provide sponsorship at this time.)

What you will be doing:

  • Manage Truepill’s enterprise business continuity and disaster recovery program, including planning, training, testing, and continuous improvement to safeguard workforce members, business operations, technology, reputation, brand, and facilities. 
  • Build BCP readiness and testing of Disaster Recovery strategies, policies, plans, and procedures for Truepill, to include Engineering, Information Technology, Pharmacy Operations, and Business Operations, teams. BCP and DR scope would include our facilities, physical infrastructure, computer networks and systems, and our virtual, distributed workforce.
  • Conduct and update business impact analyses, including upon introduction of new critical business processes and changes to existing critical business processes. Plans, implements, and coordinates activities to mitigate business continuity risk are effective and evaluated against the costs when developing and implementing recovery strategies.
  • Be responsible for the coordination for BCP exercises such as Work Area Recovery, Transference, and Tabletop, for a global environment enterprise-wide with all business units.
  • Be responsible for the validation of technology Recovery Time Capabilities (RTC) and Recovery Point Capabilities (RPC) during testing to ensure business process Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) can successfully be achieved; provide leadership and oversight to ensure After Action, Lessons Learned, Gap Acceptance/Remediation, plan, and process improvements are completed from test results.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and consulting services on DR Testing to the enterprise on DR/IT Service Resiliency best practices, policies, industry standards, and framework while ensuring adherence.
  • Assist our business units in identifying and documenting recovery strategies for their critical business processes. Be responsible for and guide customers on tools, templates, and framework methodology for Disaster Recovery testing while supporting a business process view; responsible for global management reporting on the state of DR/IT Service Resiliency Testing metrics for overall governance.
  • Improve, automate and scale our response to events disrupting our critical business processes.
  • Assumes command & control of Major BC/DR Incidents, the graduation of low impact incidents to Major Incidents, and potential Major Incidents.
  • Ensure key performance indicators are measured for Major BC/DR Incidents and report trends of process maturity levels and tool adoption.
  • Lead, facilitate and assist Truepill’s leadership and Business Continuity Team in responding to events disrupting our critical business processes. Provide end-to-end management, communication, escalation, investigation, and resolution of critical incidents, ensuring updates are timely and of sufficient quality, arranging discussions and updates as required.
  • Work with our Information Security, IT, and Finance teams to assess third-party software and vendor risk from a business continuity and disaster recovery viewpoint.
  • Work with our Information Security, Information Assurance, and Compliance teams in responding to third-party risk assessments from potential customers and partners from a business continuity and disaster recovery viewpoint. 
  • Help nurture a strong business continuity culture at Truepill.

What we are looking for:

  • At least five (5) years in a related field, preferably in Pharmacy/Healthcare industry with experience with business resiliency, disaster recovery, and major incident management in a global enterprise. 
  • Have a strong technical background, the technical depth and breadth to work with and advise our Engineering teams in leveraging major cloud providers, IT in supporting a remote workforce as well as legacy applications, and Information Security/Information Assurance teams in defending our networks and systems form the adversary in the midst of a disaster.  
  • Expert in coordination of Disaster Recovery tests for individual applications as well as data center tests; includes setting scope, objectives, project plan, status reports, conducting test planning meetings, review of test plans, and issue tracking/resolution supporting business processes; on call 24/7/365.
  • Expert in coordination of BCP exercises for business groups; includes setting scope, objectives, project plan, status reports, conducting planning meetings, review of BC plans, and issue tracking/resolution supporting business processes. 
  • Experienced in planning for and implementing BC/DR efforts for force majeure incidents (natural and human-initiated) to include pandemics, flooding, fire, explosions, tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes, acts of terrorism, vandalism, electromagnetic pulses, electrical interference, acts of government, plagues, etc.
  • Experience with implementing Disaster Recovery tools that automate the recovery process.
  • Experience in testing multiple infrastructure platforms and technologies.
  • Ability to document and communicate concisely and precisely in writing and orally.
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational, project management, and vendor management.
  • Strong bias for action and ownership.
  • Have a business systems and process analysis background, with the ability to break down complex business processes and identify continuity risks.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and delivery results.
  • Comfort working in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with Google Workspace (GSuite), or the ability & willingness to learn the platform quickly. 
  • Experience with industry standards and guidelines relevant to the role and our industry, such as ISO 22301, CERT RMM, FFIEC, ITIL, NIST, HIPAA, SOC1/SOC2/SOC3, PCI, and HITRUST.
  • Have obtained (or willing & able to obtain) professional certification(s) relevant to this role such as: Certified Business Continuity Manager (CBCM), DRI International's Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), EC-Council's Disaster Recovery Professional (EDRP), Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) and or other relevant industry certification preferred the ability to articulate and demonstrate skills as well as supporting the business needs are as or more important than the certification.
  • Bachelor's degree, a combination of experience and/or Associates's degree, or an equivalent combination of equivalent education and work experience.
