The Role:
As a Lead Product Designer at Xero, you will be responsible for designing beautiful, enabling and meaningful experiences that solve genuine customer problems. You will help to define, design and deliver seamless experiences for our customers as well as assisting others through design collaboration, feedback and mentorship.
You will contribute to the design vision and direction working with multiple people across design, product and technology. You will help to define how we improve our design thinking while also promoting the value of design and collaborative practices across spheres of influence and participation.
The Team:
It's an exciting time at Xero UK with the establishment of our first Product Design team and having recently made our first 2 hires into the team! We are now seeking a Lead Product Designer to play a pivotal role in establishing the Product Design practice alongside your Research & Service Design peers.
You will also work closely with Product and Engineering teams to build out a world class offering with the backing of a 150+ design team globally.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Create frameworks (read wireframes low/high-fi, visual frameworks, content/data models etc) which articulate the components, journeys and elements required to solve ‘the problem’;
  • Explore ideal future concepts and identify new interaction solutions and patterns;
  • Participate in generative user research to understand underlying customer goals, needs, behaviours and pain points;
  • Support designers within your product area to deliver high quality product experiences;
  • Partner closely with development teams to ensure solutions balance user needs, business strategy and technical requirements;
  • Work closely with the Design Leadership team to contribute towards strategic product initiatives.

In order to be successful in this role, you will have

  • Proven experience leading successful, large complex design projects;
  • A portfolio that demonstrates high-quality design outcomes, contributing to user experience and business value;
  • A mastery of the entire design process from uncovering customer needs and pain points, to executing elegant interfaces;
  • Experience in building and iterating on a product or experience based on usage patterns, user feedback and an evolving strategic landscape.
