Overview:
·         The Technical Program Manager will be responsible for managing technical projects or programs, working closely with external partners, engineers and technical staff to design and launch projects, and communicates with senior management on status, risks and change control.·         The ideal candidate will work with product management to define strategy and requirements·         The Technical Program Manager II will be primarily tasked with supporting projects of importance to Rackspace’s Global Technical Support Linux department including internal projects such as infrastructure, systems and tools that are essential to providing services to Rackspace customers. ·         The Technical Program Manager II will be a key component of the Engineering and Automation function who will be responsible for proactively seeking out opportunities to leverage the resources available to them to deliver on Rackspace goals and initiatives.      

You Will:

  • The Technical Program Manager II will be working with the GTS Linux Automation and Engineering department to support projects undertaken

You Have:

  • 2-4 years of experience as a Program Manager with a total of 5 years experience in a related role required-Preferred background in program management relating to Linux
  • Work closely with software engineers, product managers to get high-quality products built, tested, and released on time.
  • Identify and manage risks, making sound judgments about quality, and stopping (or speeding up) production at the right time
  • Gather requirements and define the scope of the project
  • Find resources, manage resource allocation for projects
  • Develop a plan and schedule, with well-defined milestones
  • Work with Software TPMs to develop and track release milestones and schedules
  • Manage communication of progress/status within the core team and external to the team
  • Excellent understanding of software development lifecycles
  • Excellent proficiency with SCRUM and Agile project management
  • Proficiency working with systems such as GitHub, Jira and ServiceNow
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with production data centres, operating systems, and platform hardware is highly recommended
  • Experience managing multiple international projects and people acting as a technical lead.
  • Proven ability to work on assignments that require data evaluation, recommendation development, and decision making
  • A strong sense of focus and excellent attention to detail while working in a very fast-paced environment

Education

  • High school diploma or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science degree or equivalent experience required
