Vox Media is looking for an experienced Product leader to work closely with our Product, Design, Technology, and Editorial leadership to help our world-class Vox Media Product team build great products and drive key business outcomes. As the VP Product, Platform, you will build and scale a world-class platform that enables our customer-facing teams to move fast with impact and intent. You will lead Product Management and Product Strategy for our platform and be responsible for creating end-to-end product vision, strategy and roadmaps for the platform in collaboration with cross-functional partners across Vox Media. This position will report to Vox Media’s SVP, Head of Product.

 

What you'll do:

  • Lead the product development function for our platform team and ensure that the teams are organized, managed, informed, and resourced to execute against our ambitious set of platform priorities.
  • Own and drive the product vision and strategy with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers and Research teams to deliver outstanding products to internal customers and end users
  • Partner with product lead peers to ensure strategic alignment in the roadmaps for each product line in the Vox Media product portfolio (Consumer Revenue, Commerce, Advertising, Editorial Product, Coral, and the Chorus CMS), working alongside key technical and business stakeholders as needed.
  • Manage and build a team of Product Managers who in turn lead the product development of their respective teams
  • Make the Vox Media platform a partner to other teams and business units with a strategic eye toward quality, scale, and sustainability
  • Define and communicate platform strategy with cross-functional leadership across Vox Media

 

What you'll bring:

  • A passion for building relationships, connecting people and inspiring collaboration and productivity
  • A track record of hiring and leading productive product teams, including managing teams of product managers
  • You understand building platform products as opposed to consumer products, and how to enable other teams to move with speed to scale and pursue their end-user opportunities
  • You understand how to prioritize the developer experience in order to improve impact, distribution and success for teams building on the foundation your product provides
  • You are user-centric and understand how to leverage UX, design, and research for higher quality outcomes
  • Experience working in highly cross-functional and matrixed organizations, including working with executives and senior leadership across multiple departments
  • A passion for building a diverse, inclusive and healthy workplace that’s both supportive and challenging
  • Experience managing teams of technical and non-technical stakeholders, all the while driving towards strong  product and business outcomes
  • You are execution-focused and focus teams to consistently ship products and deliver partner and customer value
  • You clearly define success metrics and illustrate how teams and projects are driving and contributing to them
  • A strong perspective on how to cultivate a product culture including the tools and process that help people do their best work while accomplishing business imperatives
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, specifically the ability to tell a product vision and strategy story to the people who make it and the people who use it
  • Capability to evaluate and manage integration of 3rd party vendor solutions
  • A knowledge of the constantly evolving media industry and publishing landscape and a curiosity about where it’s headed
  • Familiarity with one or more of the Vox Media portfolio of editorial brands
  • Understanding of the product domain common to media companies like content management systems, advertising technology, consumer revenue, etc
