A day in the life
As a Senior Multi-modal UX Designer, you lead, define, and drive the interaction design for in-vehicle experiences. You are familiar with vehicle HMI and have experience curating a great UX that leverages screens, voice, physical controls, and haptics. You leverage research to ground ideas in customer needs, while thinking big to create ambitious ideas for which no design patterns exist. You establish collaborative processes with PMs and engineers to bring ideas to life and translate business needs into customer-focused UX. You communicate ideas effectively, drive ideas to solid design deliverables, and help establish success metrics to optimize results.

About the hiring group
Auto UX is optimized for an agile product development environment. UX Researchers conduct qual studies to identify and prioritize opportunities. They also conduct quant studies to evaluate or validate ideas. Visual and Voice designers leverage insights to craft multi-modal experiences. They also contribute to product strategy and requirements. A Design Technologist builds prototypes for testing and demos, and Producers drive the process through iterations to a Minimum Loveable Product (MLP). Our team also provides direction to automakers integrating out products to ensure customer receive a bar-raising Alexa experience.

Job responsibilities
We are looking for a designer who can:
· Leverage experience with skills and appstore flows to drive discovery of new services and integrate them into a customer's Alexa experience
· Produce user flows, wire frames, lite prototypes, and rigorous user interface specifications that consider voice and visual interactions
· Contribute design requirements to specs and work with PM to flesh out the vision of the product
· Confidently communicate rationale for design decisions in executive-level design reviews
· Draw on intuition, but initiate research and testing efforts as needed
· Define success metrics that measure success and inform ongoing improvement efforts
· Codify designs into written guidelines and requirements
· Start simple while not losing sight of the long-term vision

Basic Qualifications

· 8+ years of professional experience as a UX designer or interaction designer
· 3+ years experience in human-computer interaction design in voice or multi-modal speech interfaces.
· Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Adobe CS, Invision, or similar prototyping tools
· Professional portfolio of user-centered design work
· Bachelor’s Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Design, HMI, front-end Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
· Experience writing compelling narratives and details design guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

· Professional experience designing in-vehicle HMI and voice interactions that consider voice and various safety standards
· Experience designing features for multi-modal (voice and GUI) devices.
· Ability to analyze data and find usage patterns.
· Experience with agile methods.
· Familiarity with designing mobile web, and/or on-device mobile applications.
· Experience shipping innovative, successful consumer voice products.
· Unwavering attention to detail with an acute awareness that everything counts.
· Experience with full design process from inception to shipping product
· Experience presenting to and advising senior management.
