Over 80,000 businesses and millions of people use 1Password to protect their most important information. We’re a kind, curious, and customer-focused team on a mission to build the world's most-loved password manager and give people more control over their data.
Content Design is a brand new team within the Design department at 1Password. It’s our job to guide users through the complexities of our product — while still sounding human. You’ll join a small (but growing!) UX writing team that asks for and gives feedback often, looks to research to help inform our decisions, and advocates for our users every step of the way.
If you’re a recent graduate or looking to transition into UX writing from another field, this role is for you. As a Junior Content Designer, you’ll grow your skills at crafting product copy that helps, educates, and delights our users under the guidance of your Content Design Manager and Senior Content Designer. You’ll thoughtfully participate in content design reviews, collaborate on user flows in cross-functional teams, and craft well constructed copy that helps our users get things done.

As a Junior Content Designer, you will:

  • Work with your manager to complete tasks on time and to the standards expected.
  • Craft clear, user-centered product copy within 1Password elements as assigned, such as onboarding flows, error states, or confirmation messages.
  • Grow your skills through mentorship and training with your teammates, while also actively working to further your own knowledge.
  • Stay up to date on and maintain consistency with the content design style guide.
  • Collaborate with design, research, and engineering on your projects.
  • Regularly contribute to team discussions, peer content design reviews, and the knowledge sharing culture of our team at large.

What we're looking for (must haves):

  • A cover letter and resume
  • 1 year of experience writing for instructional, journalistic, or storytelling purposes, or degree in a related field
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong multi-tasking, time management, and organizational skills
  • A motivated, self-starter attitude (and a sense of humor)

Bonus points if you have:

  • Familiarity with Figma, Sketch or related design software
  • Experience writing across digital platforms (desktop, mobile web, and app)
  • A portfolio of UX-focused writing samples

What you can expect in your first month:

  • Familiarize yourself with the 1Password style guide to learn how we communicate to our customers.
  • Work with the content design team to assess what your growth opportunities are.
  • Create a learning plan with your manager to identify tasks that you can take on to build your skills.

What you can expect by month 3:

  • Be actively working to tackle the tasks outlined in your learning plan, consulting with your teammates often for support and guidance.
  • Be an active, thoughtful contributor to content design reviews on your team and on calls with teams outside of it.
  • Have a solid understanding of the 1Password style guide.

What you can expect by month 6:

  • Complete your learning plan and work with your team on identifying where you can focus next to hone your new skills.
  • Have a strong grasp on ux writing; approaching your work user-first, with design minded and systems thinking, and research-backed decision making.
  • Take ownership of certain tasks and projects, collaborating with the cross-functional teams behind them.

"We work hard to make the content design team a collaborative, safe space. We delight in working together to help each other be the best UX writers and thinkers we can be." - Sasha VanHoven, Staff UX Writer
