We are investing in employee experience and engagement by hiring this first-ever role that combines learning and development (L&D), diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB). Are you looking for a way to use your combined L&D expertise and DEI experience to craft organizational culture? This senior individual contributor role is empowered to do just that! You will help craft the identity, practices, and culture of our company as we seek to grow in many dimensions. Reporting to and collaborating strongly with the VP of People, you will be a key participant in employee strategy, annual plans, and associated budgets. That work empowers the role to dive into delivering company strategy aligned programs with measurable value.

At a high level, this role collaborates with leaders cross-functionally in developing an employee engagement strategy that delivers continuous learning that directly contributes to scaling the company. From onboarding to the entire employee lifecycle, your efforts will focus on key moments and capabilities in making CircleCI an outstanding place to grow a career. Interwoven into all designed efforts to drive learning and development will be making diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging systemic. This role is a key stakeholder in employee engagement surveys, sentiment, and outreach that can guide the company to higher performance.

L&D program areas

In the L&D space, we're seeking a candidate that can build alliances with other departmental L&D leads to uncover and engage on meaningful learning paths. You will own the manager development program by helping us continue to rollout tools and training that increase manager proficiencies and drive their adoption across our manager cohort; this includes vendor management. Our tools include LifeLabsLearning, Culture Amp Performance, and Udemy for Business.

Other specific projects will include:

  • Crafting (in collaboration with other people team members) onboarding plans and tactics with a focus on a standard, common to all employees' first 90 days, critical to ramping folks on the business and culture
  • Co-creating learning paths in Udemy that reflect corporate priorities, executive and manager development
  • In concert with other leaders, guide the cross company effort for employee engagement focus improvement as the project lead, contributing your L&D expertise, as problems are solved with improved knowledge and tools
  • Collaborate with department L&D leads in Customer Engineering and Revenue to develop a coordinated offering of tools, content, and learning that scales the company

DEIB program and delivery

As a leader in the DEIB space, you will support the DEIB executive steering committee with the planning and execution of an annual DEIB strategy, budget, and overall plan. This includes working with Employee Resource Group (ERG) leads in helping them realize their vision and plans. This role needs a practical leader that is able to use DEI learning experiences and our existing tools in order to deliver.

Other specific projects will include:

  • Crafting an active set of internal campaigns and programs that inspire engagement on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, both with DEI champions and allies
  • Identifying (in partnership with business leaders) the right metrics used internally and externally that support removing conscious and unconscious biases and any vestiges of systemic racism and intolerance
  • Championing the learning and understanding of all aspects of diversity that underpins a culture committed to psychological safety

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of work experience in L&D
  • 2+ years with leadership roles delivering diversity, equity and inclusion program management
  • Demonstrable change management skills and passion
  • Strong organization, program management and communication skills underpin your success
  • Forward-thinking L&D experience with a broad focus to include all stages of learning (analysis, design, development, delivery, evaluation) and multiple learning modalities (in-person, virtual, digital, mobile, learning in the flow of work)
  • Solid understanding of a variety of training methods with the ability to engage with people at all levels of an organization
  • Excellent social, communication and presentation skills
  • Influencing, negotiation and facilitation skills to champion and maintain collaborative relationships with partners
  • High affinity to technologies and a strong desire to be “out in front” with technology and delivery adoption
  • Ability to develop and translate strategic goals into appropriate development and DEI programs that balance the evolving priorities of the organization
  • Experience in group & virtual facilitation and team coaching with a track record of improving overall performance
