Why We Need You
PagerDuty is looking for a Pricing Manager who is passionate about monetization, pricing and packaging strategy, analytics, and market research. You will be leading pricing and packaging initiatives from developing it as a concept until their launch and will monitor the results to confirm the desired outcome. You will work with sales team, growth team and product team to identify areas where there are gaps in the monetization and will come up with solutions to optimize for the business outcomes. You will gather feedback from customers, field teams and work closely with the product team to gather insights and develop hypotheses to test. 

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be reporting to the Director of Pricing, Analytics, and Operations, and will be an integral member of the larger PagerDuty Product team, collaborating closely with Product Managers, Development teams, and other stakeholders within the Company.
  • You will employ various pricing frameworks and drive monetization and commercial analytics to find the optimal pricing and packaging for the entire PagerDuty product portfolio. 
  • You will be collaborating across the business to bring data-driven insights to support strategic business decisions.
  • You will work with the sales team to design best deals structure on large strategic opportunities.
  • You will conduct competitive landscape research and provide insights to drive product and monetization strategy.
  • You will collaborate with product and finance to build forecasts for the product portfolio to communicate the impact of strategic pricing and packaging changes. 
  • You will do business case analysis & preparation to help with product strategy and size market opportunities.
  • You will be working at times with senior leaders within the company and influence decision making at the top management level.

Skills and Attributes

  • Are analytical, have deep knowledge of pricing and packaging frameworks, can analyze data, and evaluate key opportunities.
  • Are familiar with data programming languages such as SQL, SAS, Stata, R, Python and data visualization tools such as Periscope, Looker, Excel, Tableau.
  • Have working knowledge of financial planning and forecasting and can build financial models from scratch.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This role will produce work output that will influence business direction and has high exposure within the company so Pricing Managers will usually be working with senior leaders within the company. 
  • Are able to wear different hats and are comfortable with a fast-paced environment. A single day may include pitching strategic business decisions to senior leadership, mapping out business requirements with technical teams and structuring a deal with a sales leader.
  • Are proactive, and willing to get their hands dirty. There will be large projects that will require pricing managers to wear many different hats and facilitate coherence in cross-functional execution teams.
  • Are curious and have a growth mindset. 
  • Are driven to find the right answers that will determine optimal monetization strategy to meet business goals.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with SaaS subscription monetization strategies, pricing principles, building business models, and Go-to-market strategies
  • Experience with a scripting language, such as Python, R, or SQL and with Business Intelligence (BI) tools for strategic reporting and analytical exploration
  • Excellent analytical skills to frame and solve complex problems 
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent business judgement
  • Excellent prioritization skills to manage projects and deliverables with competing deadlines
  • BS/BA in Business, Economics, Statistics, Math, or a related field required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have an MBA.
  • Fluent SQL skills, particularly in the PostgreSQL environment.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing.
