Job Description

About the role:

You will be responsible for:

  • Bring expertise and develop standards in line with a state-of-the-art glass manufacturing process
  • Lead control system and/or power distribution projects from inception to completion
  • Prepare scope of work and functional specification documents for electrical design, fabrication and installation of glass manufacturing equipment and process support equipment
  • Lead understanding voice of the customer with the operations team to create inputs to control system requirements
  • Direct the work of external partners and systems integrators by providing technical guidance in the design, development, installation, and commissioning phases
  • Ensure complete and accurate drawings and project documentation.
  • Review and/or design PLC, HMI, DCS, and SCADA systems.
  • Review and/or design power distribution systems and one-line drawings.
  • Knowledge of P&ID diagrams and use in developing electrical equipment and instrumentation material lists for integration into scope of work requirements for electrical controls
  • Troubleshoot automation systems (Siemens S7 and Beckhoff)
  • Support operations team for control systems troubleshooting on existing MAGMA lines.
  • Facilitate and perform training and support for operations and engineering staff
  • Collaborate closely with IT to deploy solutions
  • Facilitate and perform training and support for operations and engineering staff, must also take an active role in FMEA workshops for equipment design.

  • This role will work closely with employees or strategic partners, suppliers or contractors within the specified discipline/focus area:

Technical Employees within the Squad; engineers and scientists of varying disciplines.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience with design and development of process control and automation systems
  • 5-7 years of experience with design and development of motion control systems
  • 5-7 years of experience with Siemens Factory Automation products (PLC, HMI, Drives) and software (TIA Portal, WinCC)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern industrial networking protocols and network design
  • Demonstrated knowledge of control panel design and build process
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern control system practices, procedures, equipment and communication protocols
  • Demonstrated knowledge of motion control systems
  • Understanding of industry specific standards
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems
  • Detail oriented to spot inaccuracies and find solutions
  • Strong decision making and judgment skills
  • Team Orientated Individual– must have excellent people skills
  • Strong communication skills

Travel Requirements:

Travel is expected to be domestic and international 25% - 40%
