Engineering Manager - Search (ML)

As Engineer Manager in Search Platform team at Rappi you will lead a technical team to improve Rappi's Search Ranking. You will manage cross-functional teams(backend, Data Scientists, Data Engineers), taking them from ideation and concept phases to testing and production, while remaining involved from a hands-on technical perspective. The Platform team is a key piece within the Search Area, responsible of providing ranked results to other services and providing personalized content for our users.

Things we have worked on in the last 6 months:- Major Architectural refactor (reliability)- Improved search conversions by 10%+- A Neural Network to identify user intent (implemented in golang)
Some things coming up un our roadmap:- Personalized Search results (a Vegan and a Paleo should not be see the same burgers)- Token extraction (identify that in "strawberry jam XXX" strawberry is a flavor, jam the product and XXX the brand)
The Search Area has strong focus on data and correctness. We A/B test A LOT. We measure and take evidence based decisions, we work as a team, this means: we care for each other not only at work level but also as a person, we have open discussions and everyone is welcome to contribute with ideas. We move fast and give independence, we want everyone to understand all aspects of the business and take ownership. We don't believe in micromanaging and value work/life balance.

• Increase the quality of your technical team both by hiring and coaching
• Help the team grow
• Put models in production (this role is not for a research position)

What You'll Need

• Strong software development skills
• Startup experience
• The ability to ship both MVPs and highly scalable products
• Experience leading high performance data teams
• Experience in a high growth, fast scaling environment
• Good communication skills
• Ability to coach both in backend and apps.

The Main Technologies We Use Include:

• Golang, Python, Airflow
• Microservices based architecture
• ElasticSearch, redis, kafka, snowflake
• AWS or cloud services
