Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Database Migration Consultant to help our customers migrate thousands of applications to the cloud. You will play a key role in accelerating these cloud migration capabilities to meet massive customer demand. Our professional services engagements will focus on customer solutions such as high volume mission critical OLTP/OLAP environments, batch data processing, designing, and deploying future state petabyte-scale data warehouse service, data lakes, and building and/or designing reference configurations to enable our customers and influence AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, Lake Formation adoption.

You will collaborate with our customers and partners on key engagements and will deliver proof-of-concepts, technical workshops, and implementation projects to migrate Applications from Oracle/SQL*Server databases to Aurora-PostgreSQL/MySQL or other Open Source platforms. This is a technical position and the ideal candidate is someone who can dive deep in migrating customer data to AWS. You will:
· Work directly with customers’ technical resources to devise and recommend solutions based on the understood requirements
· Analyze on-premises database environments such as Oracle, data lakes, SQL*Server, or other Commercial DB Engines to Open Source Engines like Aurora-PostgreSQL/MySQL or RedShift, DynamoDB.
· Consult for optimal design of database environments, analyzing complex distributed production deployments, and making recommendations to optimize performance
· Migrate customer data workloads to AWS
· Work closely with AWS Platform Service Engineering and Solution Architecture teams to help ensure the success of project consulting engagements with customer
· Employ customer facing skills to represent AWS within the customer’s environment and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, standard methodologies, project management and risk mitigation

Our Consultants work with Federal Government customers in a variety of locations across the US. As such, Consultants must have the ability to travel to client locations to sell and deliver professional services as needed. This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. citizen and is able to obtain and maintain a Federal background check.

Basic Qualifications

· 8+ years of experience in Oracle or SQL*Server
· Experience administering Open Source Database Technology Platforms such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
· Experience with administering databases across multiple database platforms (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Netezza, Teradata, Vertica, etc.)
· Experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT workflow management desired & ability to write, tune SQL queries desired
· Experience with migrating mission critical database environments from one platform to another
· Experience migrating data to AWS with migration techniques such as re-host, refactor, re-architect, re-platform, repurchase, etc.
· Experience with migration discovery, profiling, migration, and operations technologies and tools
· Experience writing complex procedural language artifacts: (e.g., PL/SQL, TSQL PL/PgSQL, stored procedures)
· Experience in AWS Platforms and Services
· Bachelor's degree in Computer science or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience working with high availability, disaster recovery and server tuning strategies including parameters, resources, contention, etc.
· Experience with data lakes
· Experience in Shell/Perl/Python Scripting
· Experience with Custom/COTS Applications and their implementation/maintenance is highly desired
· Experience with TCP/IP Networking a plus
· Experience architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability and high availability
· Experience with Agile execution, cloud migration factory
· Masters/Advanced degree
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
