About Team

Rubrik Atlas is the data path for all Rubrik products across data center, edge or cloud. It is a distributed, scale-out, fault tolerant, performant, deduplicated user-space filesystem that uniquely combines block device (ext4/NFS/SMB) and S3 backend storage interfaces. It has been the cornerstone of Rubrik’s innovative tech stack since Day 1. 

Since inception this team has attracted some of our strongest technical talent with a very high bar for quality and velocity. We are looking for a technical leader for Atlas, who can lead, mentor and complement this rockstar team!


About Role

Rubrik is expanding at a rapid pace in all directions from supporting many different applications (like Kubernetes, Oracle, EC2, RDS protection) to hardware storage platforms (like SSD, HDD, S3, Azure Blob, EBS) to revolutionizing cloud protection (like SaaS protection, Data Security, Immutability). And Atlas is the heart of it all. We are looking for a seasoned engineer who can lead us through the next stage of evolution of the data platform.

As a technical leader in the team, you’ll be working closely with leadership to lay down the vision, roadmap and the technical foundations for the tectonic shifts mentioned above. You’ll be responsible for outlining the architectural principles we should build towards, prototyping changes and working with the team to realize the vision in a production quality system. Your technical direction and collaboration will also impact multiple teams across Rubrik, as we need to guide them on how to best build on top of Atlas.

There will a lot of features to work on including cloud storage backed file systems with effective cost analysis, build data formats to be best at read and write performance for all workloads, deduplication & compression, reliability, resiliency, infinite scalability, performance tooling using eBPF, asynchronous programming, variety of read aheads, snapshotting, data integrity, data security, data immutability and many more.

What we are looking for? 

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
  • Experience in building systems at scale and backend development
  • Must be willing to be hands on with the code and have hands-on coding skills ( preferably in C++ or Scala)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with dynamic (startup like) environments
  • Experience with file systems, storage solutions or data protection is a huge plus
  • Experience with nuances public cloud features and costs (like compute, storage, networking, data services) on public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP)
