Job summary
The Data Center Operations Rack Programs team within AWS is responsible for setting the rack capacity install and recovery strategy and delivering systems, software, and hardware solutions to improve overall high reliability, security, availability, and scalability across hundreds of data centers globally.

As a Principal TPM, you will be part of the larger technical leadership community at AWS. This community plays a critical role in the broad business planning, working closely with senior leaders to develop business targets and resource requirements, influencing our long-term technical and business strategy, helping us grow and develop a talented team of TPMs and ultimately enableing us to deliver innovative new solutions rapidly. You will be seen as the subject matter expert for your area of focus.

A successful candidate will bring a passion for technology services, strong business acumen and judgment, ability to define visionary, ground breaking solutions across multiple systems, software, hardware, and process domains, desire to have an industry wide impact and ability to work within a fast moving environment in a large company to rapidly deliver solutions that have a broad business impact.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Defining new breakthrough solutions to improve the way AWS delivers and recovers rack capacity.
  • Lead Program Definition – Own and drive the customer working backwards strategy, tenets, long-term goals and working backwards documents (press release, FAQ) including major service team, engineering, and technician feedback and business metrics to inform direction.
  • Define Program Vision – Including all aspects to future roadmap, investment, innovation and experimentation.
  • Execution of Program Planning and Development – Including service team goals and business requirements, ensuring implementation is aligned with goals and requirements.
  • Lead Program Launch – Own the launch plan to deliver results that ensure the service team and business goals are met in operational launch plans.
  • Lead Operations – Including monitoring and response to customer feedback, continuous improvement and business growth
  • Lead interaction with Technical Teams – Including helping technical teams make tradeoffs based on service team requirements, QA/testing.
  • Influence senior leaders across Amazon and communicate vision, strategy, goals, status, and impact

Basic Qualifications


  • 8+ years of experience in technical program management, or similar technical leadership role
  • 10+ years of experience with systems, software, or hardware development lifecycle from conception to delivery
  • 5+ years communicating vision and strategy to executive stakeholders while also diving into detail to make rapid decisions and bring issues to resolution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other related advanced degree
  • 5+ years experience in the Data Center Infrastructure Domain
  • 5+ years experience with networking systems
