The Business Technology Program Manager is part of a team of seasoned project managers who report to the Director of Portfolio & Project Management (PMO) within the Strategy & Operations function within Business Technology at Guidewire.      This individual will work with IT and business stakeholders across the company to plan, lead and deliver projects that support a range of business units and/or overall company strategic objectives.  This specific role works regularly with Customer and Partner focused “Go-To Market” teams and our Product Development Function.  Key delivery measures of success include balancing the competing demands of scope, time, cost, quality, customer satisfaction, resource constraints, and risk mitigation. Other success indicators include building productive relationships within and outside of the department and adoption of solutions deployed.  

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: 
  • Excellent analysis, communication & problem-solving skills 
  • Detail-oriented individual with the ability to rapidly learn   
  • Ability to follow an agile or iterative software development methodology 
  • Highly motivated, a quick learner, to work independently or on a team and drive solutions with minimal supervision 
  • Drive projects across multiple Business Units  
  • Direct and manage projects from beginning to end.  Develop and build knowledge across the project lifecycle including scope definition, business case development, requirements gathering, functional and technical design, vendor assessment, testing, training, and implementation phases 
  • Collaborates and facilitates with and across the Application and Infrastructure teams to successfully deliver upon commitments.  This includes staying aligned with the designated Business Relationship Manager, technology product owner. 
  • Serve as a centralized point of escalation and communication status, risks and changes. 
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and stakeholders. 
  • Facilitate project meetings including core team and steering committee meetings 
  • Create and manage all project management resources including project plan, issues log and status updates 
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to establish strategy / vision and analyze business tradeoffs 
  • Manage vendor relationship and review scope of work in agreements.  Escalate and engage executives for support early. 
  • Coordinate with change adoption and UX/UI functions to ensure the project delivers the best possible user experience and maximize the company's investments.  

Qualifications

  •  In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position, the individual must have:  
  • 3-5+ years of project management experience  
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. 
  • Sets clear direction and communicates the agreed upon vision. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead, motivate and influence others. 
  • Can resolve conflict and deliver tough messages with grace. 
  • Experience with packaged application implementations and enhancements such as Salesforce.   
  • Expert knowledge of both waterfall and Agile Software Development methodologies  
  • Experience in development and control of project plans, resource planning, quality and risk management, forecasts, budgeting, reporting and stakeholder management 
  • Strong ability to make effective presentations and proven ability to quickly earn the trust of executive sponsors and key stakeholders 
  • Strong influencing, collaboration, persuasion, and consensus-building skills.  Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and build relationships across disciplines 
  • Exceptional skills in assessing, summarizing and presenting business or operational priorities and decision-points for effective, timely and efficient management/executive decision-making 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize data and information to provide a high-level  
  • Sees the picture while grasping details   
  • Balances between competing priorities. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required.    
  • PMP/PMI certification is a plus
