Technical Responsibilities

  • A Data Team Lead should be able to design, build, operationalize, secure, and monitor data processing systems 
  • Create robust and automated pipelines to ingest and process structured and unstructured data from various source systems into analytical platforms using batch and streaming mechanisms leveraging cloud native toolset 
  • Implement custom applications using tools such as Kinesis, Lambda and other cloud native tools as required to address streaming use cases 
  • Engineers and supports data structures including but not limited to SQL and NoSQL databases 
  • Engineers and maintain ELT processes for loading data lake (Snowflake, Cloud Storage, Hadoop) 
  • Engineers API’s for returning data from these structures to the Enterprise Applications 
  • Leverages the right tools for the right job to deliver testable, maintainable, and modern data solutions 
  • Respond to customer/team inquiries and assist in troubleshooting and resolving challenges 
  • Works with other scrum team members to estimate and deliver work inside of a sprint 
  • Research data questions, identifies root causes, and interacts closely with business users and technical resources 

Team Lead Responsibilities

  • Maintain a billable utilization of 50-60%  
  • Manage a team of 1-5 engineers and architects:  
  • Work with team to build individualized career development plans  
  • Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports, including overseeing new employee on-boarding  
  • Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment  
  • Provide effective feedback and support to individuals through quarterly 1:1’s, and employee recognition.  
  • Actively manage bench time to support progress toward utilization targets, individual development goals, and solution development goals  
  • Understand sales pipeline and team capacity and capabilities and work with practice leadership to adjust staffing plans as needed  
  • Maintain skills and certification inventory of team  
  • Consciously create a workplace culture that supports the values and guiding principles of the organization  
  • Foster a culture of delivering with quality and care  
  • Build and maintain a culture of trust through open and honest feedback and accountability  

Provide Project Support

  • Work with Project Managers and the Resource Management team to identify appropriate resources for projects  
  • Act as a key contact for projects staffed by team.  
  • Participate in project kick-off, status, close-out, and escalation meetings as needed  
  • Provide expert technical architectural support and guidance for solutions  
  • Continuously improve project scoping and delivery by capturing lessons learned after each engagement and adjusting future proposals and approaches as appropriate  

Support Solution Development and External Evangelism

  • Work with practice leadership to define the solution development roadmap  
  • Contribute to solution development activities directly and through coordinating time and contributions by the team  
  • Contribute to blog posts, speak at user groups / conferences, and present at internal briefings as needed  
  • Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.  
  • Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.  
  • Work closely with related Services team members to understand and provide input on promotions, performance, and if needed, disciplinary action.  

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of leading and mentoring team members 
  • 6+ years of professional technical experience 
  • 4+ years of hands-on Data Architecture and Data Modelling. 
  • 4+ years of experience building highly scalable data solutions using Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, Snowflake 
  • 4+ years of programming languages such as Python 
  • 2+ years of experience working in cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure) 
  • Strong client-facing communication and facilitation skills
