About the role

Reporting directly to the CEO, The Head of HR role requires an experienced, commercially minded and hands-on Head of HR to manage a comprehensive HR service and foster a high-performance culture and the delivery of strategic objectives. It will be key for the Head of HR to build strong relationships within the business and become an influential part of the senior management team to drive culture and positive change within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Main duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide operational leadership across the whole HR remit, including policies and procedures, employee terms and conditions, talent acquisition, learning and development, employee relations, Health and Safety, payroll and benefits provision, and performance management
  • Lead in driving employee engagement and company culture, embedding values and behaviours to retain talent and ensure high productivity
  • Innovate and drive forward best practice across the HR service, ensuring that the delivery not only meets statutory obligations but operates with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Provide support, guidance and coaching to your direct reports and wider team across their remit. This includes providing senior expertise across a range of HR matters, offering practical advice in line with legislation and best practice
  • Promote and develop a full L&D programme to support and grow the L&D culture in line with business goals and objectives
  • Draft and implement new company policies as well as continuously monitor and review existing policies, making changes where necessary
  • Assess and implement new HR software to the business as and when required, as well as ensure existing HR software is being used to full advantage
  • Diversity and Inclusion, working with our Diversity Champions to promote a D&I culture and promotion of D&I initiatives
  • Advise on employment law matters and remain abreast of changes in the law
  • Produce high quality reports and deliver meaningful data insights across the HR remit

Requirements

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Experienced in a “Head of HR” or equivalent senior HR role, ideally within a fast-paced ecommerce or tech environment
  • CIPD level 7 and degree qualified
  • Accustomed to remote working and operating a HR function within a remote working company
  • Strong IT skills with experience of assessing and implementing new HR software as and when required
  • Experience of HR and other Software such as HiBobCulture AmpSlackLinkedin RecruiterGo1, Workable (ATS), Brightmine desirable
  • Outstanding communicator and team player, always acting with integrity, being highly approachable and able to build rapport quickly with employees at all levels across the business
  • Exceptional writing and reporting skills and experience of producing high-quality executive reports
  • Ability to develop a sound understanding of how Fruugo operates and the job roles within Fruugo
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work under pressure
  • Effective coaching and training ability, with an engaging style, capable of inspiring teams to achieve business goals
  • Good business acumen, commercially-minded with sound judgement and decision making
  • Solid knowledge of employment law and its practical application
  • Ability to deal with complex and difficult situations
  • Strong leadership, influencing and negotiating skills
  • Positive thinker and problem solver
  • Experience of dealing with a varied workforce including contractors, employees who work remotely and employees based overseas
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy
