Position Overview:
As the Senior Engineer, Line Control & Automation you’re a key member of NCA Regional Technical Process Team, reporting to a Sr. Manager, Regional Process -Technical. You will contribute to the success of Ball by maintain and improving the high level of technology in the North & Central America (NCA) Ball plants thru optimization of the machine processes to improve cycle time, scrap reduction, quality defects, etc.
Your Key Areas of Responsibility Include:

Provide technical electrical and line control support to plants, by collaborating with Production and Engineering to implement process improvements across all lines in NCA.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination with relevant engineering and plant stakeholders.
- Consult and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing personnel to ensure the use of appropriate and standard technologies.
- Actively identify and pursue improvements to electrical equipment, systems, and processes to enhance production, reduce costs, and improve maintainability.
- Leverage knowledge of best practices and technological improvements to develop strategy for NCA. Ability to communicate, coordinate, and drive implementation of best practices and future innovations.
- Prepare project documentation to support project designs, PLC programs, bills of materials, spare parts lists, and specifications. Oversee the preparation/development of drawings for the installation or modification of control systems, power distribution, lighting, and other electrical systems.
- Work with outside consulting firms and vendors used in the design of control, power distribution, and support and service systems. Review vendor and external engineering drawings and documents for compliance with standards and project requirements.
- Develop electrical check-out procedures for projects and installation. May lead and participate in the check-out activities and for acceptance of equipment and systems.
- Assist production and maintenance teams in isolating and resolving complex manufacturing issues related to processes, materials, or machine functionality. Also, support the implementation of engineering process improvements, upgrades, and modifications.
- Maintain and update standard documentation to accurately capture all relevant process information.
- Upgrade PLC programs for new hardware installations and improve equipment to reduce maintenance repair time. Integrate new technology to improve processes (cameras, sensors, meters, etc.).
- Rewrite or develop equipment programs to support line control optimization efforts, equipment communication to HMIs, data collection and balancing in collaboration with Production and Engineering teams.
Required Experience and Skills:

Bachelor degree in Instrumentation and Controls, Electrical Engineering or broad training in a related field usually acquired through college or work-related experience.
- 3-5 or more years of manufacturing automation experience; with a preference high-speed manufacturing.
- Demonstrated skills in the following:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Professional competence, ethical integrity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; will assist with the preparation of presentations.
- Active Listening; practice attentive and active listening; has the patience to hear people out; can accurately restate the opinions of others even when one disagrees.
- Able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
- Active in pursuit of continuous improvement efforts and ability to work with all personnel to develop a solution.
- Strong knowledge of PLC Programming, HMI systems, SCADA/Networking infrastructure.
- Analytical skills; statistical analysis- reviewing data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Working Knowledge of:
- Modifying/creating Add On Instructions (AOI).
- Experience in Electrical Controls wiring, experience with electrical schematics.
- Experience with AutoCAD (preferred) or similar.
- C Prime/ Structured Text Programming and Allen Bradley Logix family of PLCs (preferred).
- Can forming equipment experience (preferred).
- Human Machine Interface technology (PanelView/RSView, etc.)
Compensation & Benefits

The preferred location for this role is our Westminster, CO campus; but we will consider a REMOTE candidate, dependent on experience, qualifications and willingness to engage in regular travel to Colorado. If based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel (up to 50%) and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations will be required.

Hiring Salary Range: $ 83,200 - $116,390 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)

This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
