Forbes is looking for a visionary—someone to lead our vibrant communities which are built on the foundation of shared culture, experiences and goals and to inspire members and keep them engaged with the Forbes mission. The head of communities will oversee events that attract impressive rosters of highly successful entrepreneurs and disruptors, as well as establish and create new opportunities for convening and influence. This ambitious and experienced leader will spearhead the strategy and execution of growing our reach and increasing membership, the roster of groups and activations at scale.

The newsroom role will report directly to the Chief Content Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to grow our existing community groups (30 Under 30, ForbesWomen, ForbesBLK, ForbesAPEX) and establish new ones.
  • Ensure that community members remain engage with Forbes and create opportunities for them to interact and engage with each other, from in-person summits and online chat groups to intimate gatherings and newsletters.
  • Leverage the Forbes brand and their own network to attract high-profile community and board members and to create new products and events at scale.
  • Align each communities’ goals and activities with the overall business strategy, envisioning how each community will sustain long-term growth and relevance.
  • Ensure that communities’ respective needs and insights are incorporated into business decisions and product development.
  • Leverage data and analytics to understand community dynamics and measure the impact of community engagement on business outcomes, refining strategies and demonstrating the community’s value to the business.
  • Work with departments across the company from revenue and live events to audience development and legal.
  • Represent Forbes at events in videos, on air and to corporate partners.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience successfully building communities from the ground up and at scale and managing all aspects, from recruitment and editorial to products and events
  • Demonstrated ability to convene high-profile leaders and personalities
  • Established relationships with successful entrepreneurs in various industries
  • Experience leading a team and navigating a matrix of various corporate stakeholders
  • Sound news judgment and cool diplomacy skills
