Development Associate

About The Role:

The Development Associate role is an opportunity for a highly organized, proactive, curious, and technologically savvy person to join our team. This individual will support our growing team in several ways, including assisting team members in the creation of proposals, reports, research, presentations, and other projects, coordinating meetings, managing projects, maintaining accurate data within our systems, and providing core administrative support. Previous experience in a coordination or administrative role is required. Previous experience in development is preferred but not required; what’s important is a capacity for integrating complex information, an eagerness to solve problems and improve systems, and an interest in contributing to both the details and the big picture of VentureWell’s work.

This role will report to the Director, Grant Operations and will work very closely with the three Senior Development Officers supporting the growth of VentureWell’s programs.

Responsibilities:

Proposal and Funder Reporting Support (60% of time) 

  • Support the creation of proposals and reports under tight deadlines (organizing and formatting documents, creating timelines and work plans, scheduling meetings, taking notes, organizing letters of support and appendices, and drafting graphics and other documentation)
  • Review newsletters, news alerts, etc. to identify new opportunities
  • Submit proposals through online portals
  • Organize and manage funder files

Data Systems Coordination (20% of time)

  • Enter and maintain data in our systems related to funding opportunities, including grant information, meeting notes, and project timelines
  • Collaborate internally to enhance and expand our use of Salesforce, Asana, and other tools
  • Assist staff with capturing notes on external conversations and entering them into Salesforce

General Administrative Assistance (20% of time)

  • Provide general coordination and support, particularly for Senior Development Officers (including scheduling, distributing materials, pulling data reports, etc.)
  • Contribute to managing team subscriptions and logistics
  • Track reporting schedules and requirements
  • Other projects and tasks based on interest and ability

What You Bring:

  • At minimum of 2 years in a coordination or administrative role is required.
  • Previous experience in development is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience using a database, preferably a CRM, is required.
  • Exceptional relational and communication skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Ability to write clearly and capture meeting notes, internal communications, etc.
