Job Description

The Allstate Roadside (AR) Data and Analytics organization is responsible for advanced analytics, business intelligence solutions and capabilities, and contributing to business objectives by identifying and developing growth and profitability opportunities. We identify the highest-value opportunities, source the most relevant and trusted data, apply world-class analytics and modeling, and promote data-driven decisions. By turning data into actionable insights, we improve business performance and help achieve our strategic goals.

The AR Data and Analytics team embraces three key interdependent components - data, analytics, insights – that drive better business decisions. The team is responsible for performing extensive data analysis and delivering the right insights. The core functions include 1) understand the real business opportunity, 2) create an analytic plan with hypotheses, 3) collect data, 4) gather insights, 5) make recommendations.

​Data Strategy and Analytics Manager reports to the Analytics Director and is responsible for the data and reporting needs of Allstate Roadside (AR). This role ensures there are robust data strategies in place that align to business goals, reporting, and analytical capabilities that meet the full breadth of organizational needs. Data Analytics Manager is responsible for conceptualizing cutting-edge analytical approaches, enabling high-volume complex advanced analytics services on an ongoing basis, and leading the development of reusable data solutions. This role serves as a thought leader and subject matter expert on AR data and reporting solutions. Data Analytics Manager manages operational needs of business by driving data enablement, analysis as well as reporting solutions to improve business performance, impact growth and address any operational failures. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Influence the design of logical & physical data structures leveraging data warehouse modeling experience
  • Design presentation layer/ summary structures to enable BI reporting from the data warehouse
  • Manage offshore Data Engineering team to build ETL pipelines & ensure efficient and accurate data loads
  • Manage offshore Visualization team to drive design, build and enhancements to dashboards & SAP Business Objects reports and their schedules
  • Partner with technology teams as a Product Owner to drive enablement and adoption of warehouse
  • Assist with data-related queries and manage data analysis and reporting needs
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing complex queries, redesigning data infrastructure for greater scalability and improved performance, etc.
  • Ensure the effective collection, organization, and distribution of data from a variety of data sources.
  • Deliver value-add solutions at the speed of business
  • Troubleshoot data quality issues by identifying root cause and addressing them 
  • Create and maintain documentation allowing data to be understood (metadata) and leveraged for additional use

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Masters/MBA in a field such as Math, Business, Computer Science or Data Architecture (Preferred)

Experience

  • 8+ years of direct experience in Data Management & Business Intelligence reporting

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in talent and people management of cross functional teams
  • Business acumen and strong stakeholder management skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical analysis results to business stakeholders and describe business processes, challenges, and issues to a technical audience
  • Strong Experience with BI tools such as Business Objects and Tableau/Power BI required
  • Deep expertise in relational databases and data warehousing required
  • Experience in data extraction, data manipulation, analysis, and reporting required
  • Technical expertise in Oracle PL/SQL and MSSQL (T-SQL) queries
  • Experience working with structured, semi-structured (JSON, XML) & unstructured data types (images/audio/video etc.)
  • Data Analysis skills using R/Python
  • Data Management on AWS cloud preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodology
  • Experience building BI platforms on hybrid cloud and on-prem environment
  • Good knowledge of database client software (i.e., TOAD, SQL+, SQL Developer)
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Strong knowledge of SAP BO 4.2 or higher preferred
  • Experience in dashboard design and development preferred

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $92,560.00 - 166,465.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
