Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer with biometrics experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Datacenter Consolidation and Cloud Optimization (DCCO) program providing systems engineering support to the DHS Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology (HART) biometric system. This role will support the Technical Director in managing system evolution and refreshment needed to future-proof these solutions against obsolescence and to ensure that legacy technologies and services continue to satisfy changing stakeholder needs.
This role is fully remote with core hours between 9 am – 3 pm (EST) Monday – Friday; applicant must reside and perform all work within the United States.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-going “As-Is” and “To-Be” analyses aimed at addressing future demand for service, including the expansion and improvement of core solution technologies in the areas of biometrics, data recovery, service-oriented architectures, cloud native architectures, process and transaction management and dynamic rules engines.
- Develop recommendations and plans to incorporate new technologies and services to address evolving stakeholder needs.
- Conduct directed technical reviews and technology trade-off analyses for emerging technologies, AWS services, and biometric tools.
- Develop, update, and maintain the technology refresh roadmap, including all hardware and software assets within the full technology stack.
- Perform message comparison analysis during Parallel Operations to identify and categorize message discrepancies.
- Support biometric system performance testing in non-production environments to optimize matching services and ensure the system continues to meet performance and matching accuracy thresholds.
- Develop, update, and maintain system design diagrams and documentation
- Work independently and collaboratively in cross-team settings to achieve key project/program objectives and deliverables.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years with bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Engineering Management, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program.
- Experience with biometric matching technologies and systems
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government agency level clearance (the DHS EOD, which you must have prior to starting)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Splunk
- Experience with AWS or AWS GovCloud
- Experience with JIRA Ticketing systems preferred
- Experience with DevOps and Agile methodologies
- Experience with large, cloud-native systems
- Experience parsing, data mining, and processing biometric and biographic information
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in diverse, multi-national and virtual environment

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors. ApplyJob Profile
