About This Role:

The Commerce Data Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining the data foundation of the Commerce business unit, automating and aggregating data from internal systems as well as external vendors and agencies. As a key member of the Commerce Operations team, the Data Engineer collaborates with analysts and Commerce leadership to create data models that power business intelligence and analytics across business planning, cohort analysis, trial experiences, and direct purchase.

They are a self-driven individual with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, able to quickly comprehend and adapt to emerging priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.

To be successful in this role, you should have entry-level exposure to database design, be comfortable dealing with large and complex data sets, have experience leveraging standard cloud-based toolsets, be comfortable using visualization tools, and be able to apply your skills to generate insights that help solve business problems.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, clean, and transform data from various sources using tools such as Matillion ETL

  • Optimize data workflows and implement best practices for data management and governance

  • Develop and maintain a data platform that serves as the foundation of the Commerce business unit, automating and aggregating data from internal systems as well as external vendors and agencies.

  • Monitor, resolve, and document data alert issues or outages, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations

  • Update and create comprehensive wiki documentation for datasets and data engineering processes, tools, and best practices

  • Educate your partners: Use your data and analytics experience to ‘see what’s missing’, identifying and addressing gaps in their existing processes
