Assistant Director of Employer Partnerships

Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law is seeking an Assistant Director of Employer Partnerships to build relationships with legal employers and to help create opportunities for our JD students. The Assistant Director will support the Career Development Office by increasing the number of active employers and by facilitating major networking events for students. This position is anticipated to spend three to five days per month in the field meeting with potential employers, one day per week working remotely, and the remaining days in our Malibu office.

Duties

  • Develop, maintain, and encourage relationships with legal employers, with outreach to new employers and sustaining current relationships in order to increase engagement with CDO recruiting services and encourage the employment of CSOL students and graduates; utilizing telephone, virtual, and in-person appointments, recruiting support, and personalized recruitment services. 
  • Lead, develop, and facilitate networking opportunities for CSOL JD students and graduates; including leading and hosting unique Pepperdine events such as the Entertainment Networking Event, the Judicial Networking Event, and the Law Student Preview Event; and, increased external opportunities, such as law firm or bar association events. 
  • Develop and assist engagement and recruitment from Big Law, midsized, and judicial clerkship recruitment efforts; in partnership with the CDO Director and Recruiting Coordinator, specifically increase the number of employers registered for CDO recruiting programs, with emphasis on the Early Interview and pre-recruiting programs. 
  • Stay up to date with trends in legal hiring and pursue new employment avenues for CSOL students accordingly. 
  • Participate regularly in internal alumni and employer networking functions. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of professional experience; Excellent interpersonal, written, public speaking, and communication skills; Driven, results-oriented outlook with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and quotas; Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a diverse population of students, staff, alumni, and administrators; Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage a calendar; Strong commitment to diversity and ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds; Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Preferred: MBA or Juris Doctor degree; 4+ years of professional experience; Legal employment market expertise and previous experience with business development, marketing, communications, or administration; Ability to take an energetic and creative approach to building internal and external relationships and marketing students to potential employers while maintaining a student-centered, positive attitude.

This is a Restricted, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $72,000 - $80,000 per year 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
